Upgrading and Improvement of the Municipal Data Center
Given that in the world of science and technology, information and data are considered as a capital and due to the high cost of procurement, production, maintenance and updating; it is necessary that their storage place must kept under proper conditions and in accordance with international standards. The Isfahan ICT Municipality Organization is responsible for this vital responsibility.
The more the municipality services becomes electronic, it is necessary important infrastructure safegard information and equipment, since providing the desired and permanent services to the municipality and citizens is paramount. In this regard, the existence of a data center or a data center is a safe site, with appropriate conditions for ventilation, electricity, fire alarms, fire alarms, and daily and monthly maintenance services.
This is despite the fact that the previous data center of Isfahan Municipality was designed and commissioned about 25 years ago, based on the needs and standards of the past, and by equipment depreciation, high energy consumption, lack of parts, and to increase the confidence level ; and improvement of this center was felt . Meanwhile, with the development and development of municipal services and equipment, the past conditions did not have the capability and capacity to cover the future needs of the municipality, and it was necessary to upgrade the capacity and conditions of these equipment in accordance with the needs of the municipality.
Considering mentioned issues, the municipality of Isfahan, in the form of a project called "Data Center upgrade and Improvement", putting the implementation of this key project on its agenda.
So, the Information and Communication Technology Organization of Isfahan Municipality in the preliminary process of designing and constructing a temporary site of the data center in the space close to the main site to provide the conditions for the establishment of temporary and safe services and equipment of the municipality on its agenda.
Broad measures for the implementation of the temporary site include: space and insulation of walls; draining, laying and jointing of the conduction of electrical cables and data; installation of racks; provision and installation of emergency power and power systems; installation and commissioning of the rack system and fire extinguishing; supplying and installing air conditioning system; and testing the efficiency and integrity of the equipment, which was carried out by the partners of this organization and with the use of the capabilities of the private sector, keeping to the best available standards and costs.
Subsequently, in a complex manner and in the form of a pre-designed process, the equipment and services of the current data center will be transferred to the existing equipment, and the existing equipment will be carried out with overnight effort without interruption in the current affairs of the municipality and with the shortest possible definite (about 3 hours) was transferred to the temporary site and successfully launched.
In this regard, and given a wide variety of work areas, the implementation of this project was carried out in two main phases: "Physical infrastructure upgrading" and "Active sector development".
It should be noted that in order to make the best and the most successful, the first phase of the project, titled "Improvement of physical infrastructure" as the main part of the project, along with the design and implementation of the temporary site subdivided into different separate projects and necessary planning to implement them. Fortunately, it were carried out with the least error and cost.
In the second phase of the project, "development of the active part" of the existing municipal data center is in the agenda, which will be implemented on the basis of the annual plan approved.
